Uploading your first release

Last updated 1 June 2026

A release can be a single, an EP, or an album — BuyMyTune figures out which one based on how many tracks you include.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • Audio files — MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, or OGG. Each track must be your own original work or properly licensed.
  • Artwork — a square image, at least 1400 × 1400 px. JPG, PNG, or WebP, under 5 MB.
  • A title and release date.

Step 1 — Open the upload flow

From your Artist Dashboard, click Upload New in the left sidebar.

Step 2 — Fill in the details

  • Release title — the name of the EP, album, or single.
  • Genre — choose the closest fit from the list.
  • Release date — this can be today or a date in the past.
  • Description — tell fans what this release is about. If you're stuck, click *Generate with AI* and we'll draft something from your title and genre.

Step 3 — Upload your artwork

Click the artwork area and select your image. It'll upload automatically. You'll see a preview once it's ready.

Step 4 — Add your tracks

Click Add track and upload your audio files one at a time. For each track you can set:

  • Track title
  • Track number
  • Duration (filled automatically after upload)

The preview clip (the first 90 seconds) is generated from your upload automatically — fans can hear this before buying.

Step 5 — Set a price and publish

See Setting a price for your music for the full guide. Once you're happy, click Publish. Your release goes live immediately on your profile and in Browse.

Common questions

My audio file won't upload. Check the format (MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG are all fine). If the file is over 100 MB, try exporting at a slightly lower bitrate first.

The artwork looks blurry. Use a square image of at least 1400 × 1400 px for best results.

I published by mistake. You can unpublish or archive a release from Dashboard → My Releases. See Removing or archiving a release.
