Why we exist
We are not trying to be the biggest music platform. We are trying to be the most honest one.
Streaming services pay fractions of a penny per listen. Aggregators charge annual fees before a single fan hears your music. Social platforms own the relationship with your audience and can change the rules whenever it suits them.
We believe there is a better way: a simple storefront where artists set their own prices, keep the lion's share of every sale, and own the direct relationship with the fans who care enough to buy.

How it works
Create an account, upload your release, set your own price, and publish. You keep the lion's share of every sale, request bank transfers from your dashboard, and remove your music whenever you like. You always retain your rights.
Browse independent music, preview tracks, and buy the releases you love in GBP with VAT shown clearly at checkout. Your purchase goes directly to the artist, and your downloads are yours to keep.
Built in the UK
BuyMyTune is a UK-registered platform operating under UK law, including the UK GDPR framework for data protection and the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for buyer protections.
Our file storage and compute infrastructure runs on Google Cloud, chosen for its reliability, regional data controls, and security certifications. Your uploaded masters and fan payment data do not leave trusted, audited infrastructure.
Prices are shown and settled in GBP. UK VAT is applied where required by law and clearly shown at checkout. We do not manufacture currency complexity to obscure what artists or fans actually pay.
What we believe
Artists retain all rights to their music. We are a distribution channel, not a rights holder. You can remove your releases at any time.
We publish our platform fee clearly. No hidden cuts, no surprise add-ons, no guessing what an artist will actually receive.
File storage, signed download URLs, payment processing, payout ledgers: the unglamorous stuff that has to work every time, and does.
We are registered and operating in the United Kingdom. Our infrastructure runs on Google Cloud. Artists and fans worldwide are welcome.
The people behind it
BuyMyTune was built by people who spent decades buying, selling, and playing records — not venture capitalists looking for the next streaming play.
Co-founder
Mike
DJing since 1989 · The Haçienda · Eastern Bloc
Mike has been around independent music since the late 80s, when finding the right record meant knowing where to go, who to speak to, and being willing to dig for something most people had not heard yet.
He started DJing in 1989 after being a regular at The Haçienda in Manchester, especially Park and Pickering's Friday Nude night. Through Steve Williams, he found Eastern Bloc Records, where new sounds were arriving in the city long before they were easy to find anywhere else.
That love of discovery turned into playing local parties in Warrington, Manchester's Thunderdome, and later a Saturday night residency at Legends from 1990 to 1993. For Mike, music has always been about more than playing records. It is about finding something special, sharing it with the right people, and helping scenes grow from the ground up.
Co-founder
Mark
Sankeys · Cosmic Disco · Cutloose
Mark's background is in underground music, design, and making things like this platform. He has DJed at Sankeys, run and written under Cosmic Disco, promoted nights including Cutloose, and spent years supporting scenes from the ground up.
Along the way, he helped bring through and back artists early, including giving early UK opportunities to Gerd Janson and Hunee. BuyMyTune brings together that love of music with the practical side of building something artists can actually use.
Together
We started BuyMyTune because we still believe there is value in owning music, supporting artists directly, and creating a fairer route between the people who make music and the people who want to back it.
