Transparent pricing
No surprises. No mystery deductions. Here is exactly where every pound goes, from the moment a fan pays to the moment you receive it.
Worked example
A fan buys a release priced at £10.00 before VAT. Here is where it goes.
| What | Amount |
|---|---|
| Fan pays (incl. UK VAT) | £12.00 |
| UK VAT (20%) | −£2.00 |
| Net after VAT | £10.00 |
| BuyMyTune fee (15%) | −£1.50 |
| PayPal processing fee | ≈ −£0.65 |
| Artist receives | ≈ £7.85 |
PayPal fees vary. The figures above use PayPal's standard UK rate as a guide. The actual amount may differ by a few pence per transaction. VAT is only charged to buyers in the UK and certain other jurisdictions, so international sales may differ.
Our commitments
We are making some commitments here, publicly. Hold us to them.
What the platform fee helps pay for
Our 15% platform fee helps run BuyMyTune. Here is what it goes towards.
Getting paid
Funds from a sale enter your earnings balance after a 14-day holding period to allow for potential chargebacks. Once cleared, they are included in the next monthly payout run, sent to your registered PayPal account.
The minimum payout amount is £20. Balances under £20 roll into the next monthly payout run once they reach the threshold.
If a buyer raises a PayPal dispute and it is upheld, the corresponding amount is reversed from your earnings balance. We will notify you before any reversal. Excessive chargeback rates may result in account review.
You can update the PayPal email your payouts are sent to from the artist dashboard at any time. Payouts already in transit are not affected — only future payouts use the updated details.
All the details are in our Terms of Service. Questions? See the artist FAQ.
